Transfer from Sorrento to Naples with stop to Vesuvius

Today you are greeted at Sorrento and driven to Vesuvius National Park (Admission fees Not included). The Vesuvius is one of the most studied and well-known volcanoes in the world. A symbol of Naples with its unique shape, it has a typical frusto-conical shape, with its highest peak reaching 1,277 metres. The crater currently has a diameter of 450 metres and a depth of 300 metres.

Since 1995, when the Vesuvius National Park was founded, Mount Vesuvius became part of Unesco’s Mab Reserve due to the presence of naturalistic, geological, volcanological and archaeological aspects of exceptional historical importance. As the other volcanoes, the richness of lava soils makes Somma-Vesuvius the perfect land for agriculture, with the cultivation of varieties that acquire unique organoleptic characteristics. This is the case of the Vesuvius apricot, cherries and grapes from which the DOC Lacryma Christi wine is derived.

The walking track of “Il Gran Cono” starts from Piazzale di Quota 1000, a parking area which is 1,000 metres above sea level. From the Piazzale you can already enjoy a splendid view of the northern side of Mount Somma. Going up the path of the Gran Cono is a unique experience, for the thrill of walking along the crater of an active volcano and for the view of Campania and Lazio you can enjoy. The hiking lasts approximately 2/2,5 hours.

It will be possible to enjoy a wine tasting and light lunch at local winery (to be required at time of booking)

Later we continued to Naples.
